color picture of Augie with trees in backgroundI am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). Over the last 10 years, I have studied a range of psychotherapies. My practice is holistic and flexible. It starts with the goals and challenges you face. I received my graduate degree in clinical psychology from The New College of California. I am also a graduate of The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley and have completed professional training in Hakomi Therapy – a somatic, experiential, and mindfulness-based therapy. Meditation, mindfulness, and psychotherapy have been very important to my own life for more than twenty years.

In addition to working as a clinician in private practice, I have served as a therapist at the Berkeley High School Health Center and at a clinic treating trauma victims in Oakland. I use my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reintegration (EMDR) as one mode for working with trauma.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in the environmental field, developing innovative policy and education to promote sustainable agriculture. With a master’s degree in natural resources, I utilized my communication skills to bridge the cultural gap between the agricultural and environmental communities.
